Elizabeth Arden X Lydia Elise Millen

Lydia Elise Millen collaboration with Elizabeth Arden

When I heard that the wonderful Lydia Elise Millen designed a makeup bag with Elizabeth Arden, I knew that it would definitely be worth checking out. I have been following Lydia for a while and really enjoy her content. I’m not generally someone who buys products from other youtubers, bloggers and influencers just for the sake of having them. However, when she showed the makeup bag she designed, in the announcement video I was sure that I would love it as it has a lovely colour, is the perfect size and has a big, great quality mirror, which makes it perfect for travelling.

I also have been interested in trying some Elizabeth Arden products so this was the perfect opportunity to do just that, because the free make up bag comes packed with products that are worth ₤101. To get this great offer you have to buy at least two products (one has to be skincare) and then you can get the free make up bag that is filled with products. There are two different selections of products that you can choose from. I chose the Prevage set.

What does it include?

Prevage Anti-Aging Treatment Boosting Cleanser

Refines and prepares the skin for the use of other Prevage products. It dissolves make up and cleans the skin.

Prevage Anti-Aging Eye Serum

Minimises the appearance of fine lines and other signs of aging around the eyes.

Prevage Anti-Aging + Intensive Repair Daily Serum

Helps counteract visible signs of aging and makes the skin look firmer and more radiant.

Elizabeth Arden Superstart Skin Renewal Booster

Boosts the skins natural defences, its ability to renew and the results of skincare products

Elizabeth Arden Plush Up Lip Gelato – 06 Strawberry Sorbet

Sheer lipstick with a glossy finish and a plumping effect.

Which products did I choose?

I decided to buy the iconic Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream as I read so many good things about it and now want to test it myself. For my second purchase I chose the Mineral Makeup Brush which I’m planning to use with my Bare Minerals Loose Powder.

Overall I am so pleased with the products I got and of course the beautiful makeup bag, which has already come on a little trip with me last weekend. Also the two ladies at the Elizabeth Arden counter in the Exeter branch of boots were super friendly and helpful.

If you are interested in getting this great offer yourself you can find it exclusively at Boots, but hurry up as it ends on the 29th April.

A Day trip to Bath

Back in september my boyfriend and I went on a little trip to Bath. The city of Bath has been high on my list of places to visit for quite a while now, so I was super excited to finally go and visit.

I already spent many happy hours reading about Bath and pinning nice pictures on Pinterest and I also follow several Bath themed Instagram accounts (for example this one and this)for my daily dose of Georgian architecture and history, so even before we set of on our trip I knew that I would love the place.

And of course I wasn’t disappointed.
We spent several hours strolling through the streets, past beautiful houses, churches, the Roman Baths and the very impressive Bath Abbey and marveled at the history and air of this wonderful city. We also did a spot of shopping which was great as there really is a shop for everyone. From major highstreet brands and luxury brand outlets to little artisan shops and cafes, anyone can find something to suit their taste.

Overall I found Bath to be a lovely city with lots of character and a lot of things to do. I absolutely love how grand and elegant it is, but at the same time small and somewhat cosy.
We visited on a saturday (maybe not the best choice) so it was quite busy, but the atmosphere felt more relaxed than in other big places and there is always a quaint little sidestreet to be found that is more quiet, to step away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas.

We would have happily continued to explore the cobbled streets if only we’d had more time. Although Bath isn’t as vast as other cities there’s still much more we haven’t seen yet, so I hope that we will visit again soon. It is safe to say that it has well and truly captured my heart (as I knew it would).

So after some very happy hours of exploring we made our way back to the car and headed home with our feet hurting and a bag full of goodies and the satisfaction of knowing that Bath was worth the trip and that we will definitely be back.

Have you been to Bath and do you know any other places like it in the UK?

5 Favourite Products From The Body Shop

5 Favourite Products From The Body Shop

The Body Shop has been one of my favourite shops to buy skincare from for several years, so it is no wonder that over the years I’ve tried quite a few of their products.  Today I want to share 5 of my favourite The Body Shop products with you, so here goes:

Mineral & Ginger Warming Massage Clay Mask

I’m constantly on the hunt for a new face mask in the hope that it will give me beautiful skin and the Mineral & Ginger Warming Massage Clay Mask is one that I always come back to. I usually only apply it to my T-Zone as I  have very sensitive skin on my cheeks. I apply the mask to wet skin which makes it warm up to open the pores and draw out the impurities.

Tea Tree 3 in 1 Wash-Scrub-Mask

This product is one of my latest purchases and so far I’m really pleased with it. I have used it as a mask and face wash to combat a particularly mean out break of hormonal spots on my chin and although it couldn’t make them disappear the mask/wash definitely made the spots less red and angry. Again, I don’t apply it to my cheeks which are quite dry to start with and the tea tree oil might dry them out even more. It leaves my skin feeling refreshed and helps calming down any problem areas.

Mango Body Butter

I absolutely adore the Body Butters from the Body Shop because they smell divine and moisturise my skin so well. The Mango Body Butter always reminds me of summer and leaves my skin feeling lovely and soft for days. I also love how the fragrance stays on my skin for longer,

Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter

The Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter is my current favourite for removing makeup. It is super easy to use, smells lovely and doesn’t irritate my skin. A little goes a long way too so it lasts me quite a while, which I love.

Moringa Hand Cream

This is my first hand cream from The Body Shop and it is already my favourite. I chose the Moringa scent which is a soft floral scent that makes me feel all ladylike (sounds weird but I’m sure you know what I mean). I use the handcream quite often at work because it sinks in super quickly which means that I don’t get grease marks all over my keyboard (yay).

These five products are by no means the only products that I have tried so far, just my current top 5. I’m keen to try out more from The Body Shop and to discover some more favourites.

Do you have any recommendations? Which are your favourites?

6 Films That Make Me Feel All Christmassy

In todays post I want to share my 6 favourite films to watch when the days get colder and the countdown to christmas has started. I like nothing more than coming home and getting comfortable on the sofa with a hot drink and a film to make me feel all cosy and christmassy. Some of the films on my list aren’t actually christmas themed but are usually set in winter which is enough to make me feel all cosy.

So without further ado, here are my favourite films to watch.

Merry Christmas Mr. Bean

The first film isn’t actually a film but collection of christmas themed Mr.Bean episodes. I absolutely LOVE Mr. Bean and have been watching him since I was a child. I don’t even know why I enjoy it so much but the 30 minute episodes are nice and easy to watch and take me back to my childhood, which always makes me feel extra festive.

Bridget Jones’s Diary

Although this film isn’t mainly about christmas it ticks all the boxes for being funny, wintery and set in England which is always a winner with me.

Love Actually

Yes yes I know… Love Actually is almost every bloggers favourite christmas film and rightly so I say. It is funny, heart warming, cosy but also a little bit sad at times and of course the plot revolves around christmas and it features many of Britains most populars actors.

Home Alone

Another childhood favourite of mine that takes me straight back to the 90s. I loved all the clever booby traps that Kevin McCallister set for the burglars and used to be amazed at how fearless he seemed to be (that basement still creeps me out).

Harry Potter

Another one that isn’t christmas themed but nevertheless gives me that cosy feeling that I love around christmas, with it’s roaring fires, castle setting and snowy Hogsmeade. I particularly enjoy the first three films which are a lot less dark and gloomy than the others.

101 Dalmatians

This one seems to be the odd one out because it is the only Disney film on my list. I think I originally liked it because it is set in England (there seems to be a theme with me) and has dogs in it. Again, it isn’t actually a christmas film but I love that it is set in winter.

Which are your favourite wintery/christmassy films?

A Life Update

Life is funny sometimes. One minute you are unhappy with your life and the next something wonderful happens and turns your entire life upside down. That’s exactly what happened to me this year. At the beginning of the year I was stuck in a job that made me unhappy. I wasn’t excited for the future at all. Only a few short months later however my position had changed completely.

Ever since finishing my degree I struggled to find a job that was in line with my qualifications and interests. Eventually I started applying for jobs that I really really really didn’t want to do just to finally have a job, but despite various interviews I could never get the jobs because of ‘lack of experience’. I was depressed and demotivated and if I was honest with myself I didn’t really want a job in Germany. All I wanted was to fulfill my childhood dream and move to England and to be with my English boyfriend. This however was a distant dream when my boyfriend came to visit me for christmas 2016.

One night when I came home from work he told me about a job vacancie that he had come across which sounded suitable for me. We ended up writing the application together and some assessments and one Skype interview later (I say that but it actually took a few weeks) I had got myself a job in the field that I had always been interested in (despite lack of experience) and in the area where my boyfriend lives.

A new chapter

The only challenge was that they needed me as soon as possible. So I handed in my notice at my job and started packing up my life in Germany. Within six weeks I cancelled my flat, sold some of my things including my beloved car and packed up all of my belongings whilst still working full-time. At the end of February 2017 I embarked on this new chapter of my life.

I have to admit that these six weeks were the most stressful but also most exciting of my life. On the one hand I finally got what I had always wanted but on the other hand it meant that I had to leave my family and friends which was incredibly hard and there were many tears.

Four months on I have settled in well at my new job and in my new home. I am so much happier and finally feel like I am where I belong. Of course I still miss my family and friends an awful lot but I am optimistic that I will be able to see them all at least once a year, which is better than nothing I guess.

So there we have it, sometimes dreams do come true.

Now back to watching 101 Dalmatians on telly. Hope to see you back for my next post.
